To determine your passport renewal method, answer the following questions:

  • Do you have your passport in your possession to submit with your application?
  • Is your passport undamaged (other than normal wear and tear)?
  • Was your passport issued to you when you were age 16 or older?
  • Was your passport issued within the last 15 years?

If you answered YES to all 5 questions, then you are eligible to renew by mail.If you answered NO to any of these questions however, then you must renew in person.
